An improved array design for W-CMSR DOA estimation by Simulated Annealing

Amit Verma, Sandeep Santosh · 2014

Direction-of-Arrival (DOA) estimation is an important problem. Many algorithms have been proposed to estimate the DOA. Wideband Covariance Matrix Sparse Representation (W-CMSR) is one of such method. W-CMSR has a certain advantage over other wideband direction-of-arrival estimation methods that it does not require any spectral decomposition of the wideband signals into the narrowband signals. Also W-CMSR does not require any initial information about the number of signal sources. This paper optimize the parameters of array design namely number of sensors and aperture size by the method named Simulated Annealing. This paper further shows that the optimization of array design by Simulated Annealing have better computational complexity compared to method where all the possible design are taken.
