Generating real 3D virtual worlds from imperfect data

In today's world of Modeling, Simulation and Gaming, the world in which the user interacts in real-time is one of the most important aspects of game play. The ability to generate REAL (accurate, visceral, and immersive) worlds, which are navigable in a simulation in three dimensions, requires large quantities of data which are not readily available. In addition, this data is stored in widely disparate formats, locations and data types. This paper explores the generation of realistic interactive 3D worlds from imperfect data (worlds that appear real in every aspect and not constrained by limitations). This paper will discuss the issues associated with the inconsistent format, location and fidelity of source data, and the development of a tool to deal with those issues.
