Quadratic Windowing in the Segment Averaging Method for Power Spectrum Computation

We show that in computing a power spectrum by the segment averaging method we should obtain twice as many spectral elements as are usually recommended and apply quadratic modification. This reduces leakage and variance for no loss of resolution. Tapering windows and overlapping of segments are not required.
