An improvement to an analog-to-digital converter for differential transducers
Earle W. Owen · IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement · 1981
An improvement to a paper recently published (see ibid., vol.IM-28, no.3, p.216, 1979) is described. The original paper shows how a quantity, measured by a pair of differential resistive transducers can be converted into a time interval by incorporating the transducers in the integrator of a dual-slope analogue-to-digital converter. Offset error is measured by using two dual-slope cycles. The improvement shows how the calculation of the offset can be avoided if the reference time of the dual-slope cycles is modified in accordance with previous measurements.
