Has the Spread-of-Damage Order Parameter a Conjugate Field?

Through Monte Carlo simulations of a standard cellular automaton (Domany-Kinzel), we introduce a new type of external field h defined as the frequency at which the random numbers used in the updating of the two replicas involved in the damage spread method differ. We show, for the first time, that h is the field conjugate to the Hamming distance Ψ (chaotic order parameter).
