A PARALLEL GENETIC ALGORITHM FOR CRYPTANALYSIS OF THE POLYALPHABETIC SUBSTITUTION CIPHER

A new method for attacking the simple substitution cipher is presented which utilises a parallel version of the genetic algorithm. A suitable strategy is devised which allows communication between a number of parallel nodes each solving a separate part of the problem. An analysis of the fitness function is also performed.
