The UPIC as a performance instrument

This paper outlines new developments in the use of the UPIC computer music system of Iannis Xenakis. A new technique for real-time performance is described, along with suggestions for the necessary graphic notation. Examples are given from two recent works which use the UPIC as a performance instrument.
