All space–times admitting strongly synchronizable reference frames are static

The clock synchronization procedure associated with the usual definition of a locally synchronizable reference frame is inevitably approximate in nature. A new definition of local synchronizability, referred to as ‘‘strong synchronizability,’’ is suggested in this article. Roughly, a reference frame is called strongly synchronizable if, locally, all observers in it have common simultaneity surfaces. It will be proved that the sufficient and necessary condition imposed on a space–time for admitting a strongly synchronizable reference frame is that it be static.
