An integrated model for automated planning and estimation

Planning and estimating work effort for a project is a difficult task. It is also a critical activity as preliminary estimates translate directly into estimated costs. To assist with project planning and estimation, a strategy integrating a metrics database, a knowledge-base, and procedural systems are described.
