A systematic method of generating biquadratic filter sections

Michael A. Soderstrand · International Journal of Electronics · 1974

Biquadratic filter sections for use alone or as building blocks for higher-order active filters can be generated by a simple two-step synthesis technique The first step is aimed at synthesis of the poles realizing not only the polo-Q and resonant frequency, but also the type of feedback present in the circuit. Since the type of feedback can be specified, circuits with predictable gain and sensitivity properties can be synthesized. The second step results in realizing the appropriate numerator without affecting the polo-producing network, The technique has been used to realize numerous now active filter circuits.
