David T. Morgan · Network Security · 2004

The task of creating, securing and subsequently deploying a Web application targeted at a niche audience is rife with pitfalls, as numerous organizations have become all too aware. However, as the scale of the applications' user base increases not only in its size but also in its geographical diversity the demands upon the application itself and in particular its supporting security infrastructure increase dramatically. This article after initially covering the fundamental concerns of a typical niche application will proceed to explore the issues that are introduced as the application scales.
