Foreword from the Associate Editor [Historical Corner]

Giuseppe Pelosi · IEEE Antennas and Propagation Magazine · 2011

This issue of the historical corner hosts a paper from Sándor Jeszenszky, former Director of the Hungarian Museum of Electrotechnics in Budapest. The paper describes the developments that in about 60 years lead from Faraday's discovery of electromagnetic induction (1831) to the experimental verification of electromagnetic waves by Hertz (1888), and finally to Marconi's radio (1895). The paper also presents photos of instruments kept at various museums (e.g. Figure 1), recreating these key experiments.
