In an engine control unit two types of tasks are executed. On the one hand the time-triggered tasks, which are activated periodically after a specific amount of time has elapsed. On the other hand engine-triggered tasks, which are activated whenever the engine arrives at a specific angular position. In consequence the frequency that an engine-triggered task is activated changes with the speed of the engine. Additionally, the execution time of both time triggered and engine-triggered tasks may also depend on the speed of the engine.
