Abstract Complex data management systems are causing many managers to consolidate equipment and facilities without radically altering the look and feel of their networks. Often, both leased line and dial services exist within the same network, so a network management system must be able to integrate monitoring, control and maintenance functions in a cohesive, user‐friendly environment.
