Interpretation of a dynamic radar cross-section using the wavelet transform

The wavelet analysis technique is applied to obtain instantaneous time-frequency information from dynamic radar cross-section data, since the dynamic electromagnetic backscattered signals contain both time and frequency information. The multiresolution property of the wavelet transform (WT) is well suited to analysing such time-varying signals. Examples of the analysis for a generic missile target are presented. Results from the short-time Fourier transform and WT are used to interpret the backscattered radar response to the motion states of a missile target.
