New result for limit cycles in two-dimensional recursive digital filters

Limit cycles due to product rounding in a fixed-point implementation of a first-order two-dimensional digital filter are considered. A number of lemmas and a theorem are presented, proving that only row or column limit cycles can exist where two product rounding quantisers are employed.
