Need for More Environmental Acoustical Testing

Jerry B. Overton · The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America · 1963

The need for more acoustical environmental testing is discussed. Various methods of acoustical testing are outlined, including both equipment requirements and procedures. The results of several major acoustical-testing programs at governmental and industrial laboratories are presented. The author concludes that (1) more acoustical facilities are required to establish better procedures and train technicians, and (2) more selective acoustical testing could increase the reliability of aircraft and weapon systems.
