Cost effective methods for teaching introductory programming courses

A number of experiments in teaching introductory programming courses in a cost effective manner have been conducted by the author using a personalized system of instruction.Languages experimented with included FORTRAN, COBOL AND PL/I.The problems of procrastination and non-completion of course work were partly overcome by the author's unique solutions to these problems.
