TCAM - an open data network for traffic systems

J.R. Head · 1996

Discusses a traffic control and monitoring (TCAM) system for London. The applications computers consist of urban traffic control cells plus other computers running background applications. Initially there is one background computer for remote monitoring, but the system is designed to allow other background channels to be added later. The applications computers are connected to commercial routers via an Ethernet. The routers are connected to instation modems which communicate with the outstations over leased lines. The remote monitoring computer is also connected to the separate remote monitoring network, which consists of isolated intersection controllers connected to the instation over dial-up lines.
