Inductive ratio transducer with short circuiting ring for displacement measurement

Sahaj Saxena, Challa Dhanunjay Naidu And Dr. K Jaya Sankar Kedar Nath Sahu · Measurement Science and Technology · 1992

The authors deal with an inductive ratio transducer (IRT) with short circuiting ring (SCR) which has been developed for precise displacement measurement. The transducer has linear response and is free from hysteresis effect. It is rugged in construction, and smaller in size, lighter in weight, cheaper in cost and has a lesser number of turns compared to other uncompensated and compensated LVDT transducers. The transducer response is immune to undesirable variations in excitation conditions and environmental and winding temperatures. It is suitable for use in all types of environment including hostile conditions.
