A new wideband communications infrastructure is needed to serve the diverse communications needs of the office building of the future. The ultimate goal is a communications backbone which can serve not only to couple management work stations, but facsimile terminals, video conferencing, and telephones on the same office network. Approaches range from cable loops to packet nets to all digital PBXs. In this session the speakers will describe various alternatives for solving the intra-facility and local area network problem.
