Numerical accuracy of the representation of a Weierstrass structure function based on fractional Brownian motion is examined. We find that this representation is satisfactory for a large range of parameters. This result is applied to the calculation of the scattering of electromagnetic waves from a fractal surface in the limit of a large amplitude. The results of the calculated reflectivity show that a higher fractal dimension implies a larger surface roughness mainly because of the property of the Kirchhoff integral.
