Microsoft, this spring, launched a new telephone hotline for victims of software fraud. The ‘Sherlock Holmes Hotline’, aimed at business and personal users, collects information from buyers who find they have purchased unlicensed copies of Microsoft's products. In return for providing details of the seller, callers receive genuine replacement programs from Microsoft.
