Abstract An Internet user who wants to know about a certain topic uses a search engine to find pages related to that topic. However, there are so many pages on the World Wide Web that the user cannot access the pages directly, because most search engines output URLs matching the exact words entered by the user. In addition, even though users use intelligent search techniques, it is difficult to input proper keywords because of lack knowledge or lapse of memory. This paper presents a Support System for User Interest Expression which supplies users with keywords, combining the user's interests with information on the WWW, making it possible to input search keywords concretely and precisely. © 2001 Scripta Technica, Syst Comp Jpn, 32(13): 14–22, 2001
