This paper presents three original and complementary ideas on flow control mechanisms for packet switched interconnects, backpressure flow control, alpha message scheduling and balanced injection.These three components were adopted for the I'ed-.Y fabric.Each of the three addresses performance problems caused by a particular characteristic of realistic network workloads.
