A differential capacitance manometer

Ian Baxter · Journal of Scientific Instruments · 1953

The manometer has been developed for use in a blood flowmeter, to record pressures within the range 0.03-15 mm of mercury developed by a miniature Pitot head; it has a high modulus of volume elasticity to ensure an adequate frequency response. The pressure difference to be measured is applied across a metal diaphragm, the centre of which is linked to a lever that passes through a flexible metal membrane. A capacitance pick-up at the other end of the lever detects movement of the diaphragm.
