WiFi OFDM and Bluetooth signal collision analysis

Avraham Biran · 2011

Modern wireless radio transceivers incorporate multiple digital communication disciplines onto a single RF module. A common applications integrates WiFi IEEE 802.11n-compatible systems (either in SISO or MIMO configurations) with the IEEE 802.15 Bluetooth transceiver, both sharing the license-free ISM 2.40-2.48 GHz frequency band, therefore susceptible to collisions between the data packets upon reception. The interference among the packet streams degrades the integrity of the respective signals and adds an extra impairment dimension to the system. The effects of the collisions between Bluetooth and WiFi OFDM SISO and MIMO packets have been simulated - the quantitative results reported.
