Scrum is a widely used and respected agile methodology currently available to game developers. This research paper examines the use of Scrum within the games industry; explores whether Scrum can be considered reliable; and discusses the main elements that Scrum-users found of assistance or otherwise in managing projects. This study which found a dearth of objective literature on the use of Scrum, was conducted by the use of unstructured interviews with a chosen number of users within the games industry from different AAA organisations. The data collected from the interview process was analysed using template analysis; compared with the views of Scrum professionals and users; and the findings were presented using Nvivo, a qualitative data analysis software tool. The research has the following main results:-· - Some elements of Scrum are considered by users to be a waste of time. - Senior management involvement is required - The Scrum team need to have total buy-in - Scrum needs to be followed ‘by the book’. - Scrum is an effective medium for communication within a team
