Software metrics and human factors for WIBIS (WWW and Internet based information systems)

Motoei Azuma · 2003

World Wide Web and Internet based information systems (WIBIS) have been widely used due to popularization of high performance personal computers, the Internet and related communication services supported by information technologies such as hypermedia and graphical user interfaces. WIBIS should be able to adapt themselves to both changes in the environment and information needs. In order to satisfy these requirements, WIBIS should integrate software development systems and supporting systems, including both human and computer parts. In this paper, a three-layer system architecture for WIBIS, which integrates a development support system, development system and operation system, is proposed. Software metrics and human factors issues are then discussed for each layer. Human factors issues are also explained using the human cognitive information process model.
