Digital topology: a comparison of the graph-based and topological approaches

Abstract In image processing, the study of the topologiral properties of binary images has usually been based on adjacency relations defined on the black and white point sets (most often a combination of the so-called 4-, 8-, 6-, 18-. and 26-adjacency relations). We call this the graph based approach to digital topology.
