Use of computers in engineering design and documentation is now accepted as being an unavoidable 'way to go'. There is little doubt that work has been sped up and quality control improved though the use of computers. But many gaps remain and the paper will highlight these areas and show viable means of reducing the gaps. The thrust of this paper is that a totally electronic data flow system should be planned and implemented to improve reliability and reduce costs.
