Curves on a sphere: error control for continuous alphabet sources

We consider a discrete-time communication system and construct a family of curves with good distance properties. By choosing the appropriate curve and scale factor, we show that it is possible to achieve an MSE that decays approximately as 1/P/sup N/2/.
