Assembly language is more than a teaching tool
Kosuke Imamura · Journal of computing sciences in colleges · 2004
Assembly language programming is thought to be a teaching tool to introduce computer systems. However, an assembly language does not exist as a teaching tool. It is an instruction set architecture, which is the interface between hardware and software. It implements high-level languages (HLLs) and performs tasks that high-level languages cannot perform. This paper introduces a challenging course design that focuses on these roles of an assembly language.
