Minimum Energy Routing Schemes for a Wireless Ad Hoc Network
Sheetalkumar Doshi, Timothy X. Brown · 2002
Many theoretical studies show that power consumed by the routing of data-packets in a wireless ad hoc network can be significantly reduced compared to the current min-hop max-power routing. But, in practice this is difficult to achieve since existing protocols do not provide accurate power information and do not exploit these savings in a mobile environment. This paper enumerates practical modifications to existing ad hoc routing and MAC layer protocols (i.e. the Dynamic Source Routing protocol and the 802.11 MAC layer protocol) that reduce the power used and tests them on the Network Simulator (ns) framework.
