Random access physics teaching using a cover story

Raafat Kamel Wassef · AIP conference proceedings · 1997

Nearly all science students who enter university require some background in physics to match the technology of their chosen specialization. This class of students need not be taught physics in the traditional way with formula derivations. They need to know physics in context. The following principles are taken into consideration during the course design presented in this paper: • Physics is taught for life and not for school. • Physics is taught under cover of a story and not traditionally. • Little mathematics and formula derivations are used. • Contemporary physics and new discoveries are incorporated. • Computer, video, and modern teaching aids are to be used.
