Psycho-Computational Issues in Morphology Learning and Processing: An Overture

The basic psycholinguistic question in Morphology learning and processing is whether morphologically complex forms are stored in long-term memory or rather composed “on-line ” in working memory from stored constituents. A third logical possibility is that long-term storage and on-line processing do in fact compete in word acquisition and comprehension. Over the past several years, the three hypotheses have been intensively investigated on both theoretical and empirical grounds.
