Today we are faced with an increasing demand for continuous network connectivity in the wired-and-wireless-integrated network. However there are many problems in this type of network due to the wireless network's characteristics. In this paper, we propose an architecture named AWA (active wireless architecture) based on active network technology to solve the problems caused in the wireless network, especially enhancing TCP performance over a wireless link aimed at the problem of TCP performance degradation in the wireless environment. Network simulation proves that this architecture has merit and better performance.
