The current generation of sensor nodes is battery powered, so energy consumption is heavily constrained. Most MAC protocols of wireless sensor network can be used for energy efficient ways by reducing the activity of the highest energy-demanding component of the sensor platform with the radios. To assess the energy consumption of sensor nodes at the assigned time, we propose energy consumption assessment models for observed active and sleep times data based on time frames of sensor nodes under the selected energy efficient CSMA contention-based MAC protocols.
