RopeSwinger—Program It
James Floyd Kelly · Apress eBooks · 2009
Imagine that! A robot that crosses the room without using wheels or tracks. (If you’ve read The Mayan Adventure, you’ll remember the StringBot crossed the room like a cable car.) You might think that the program used to get the RopeSwinger to find the lever and pull it will be complicated… but it’s not. Think about it — the largest movement requires no action on the robot’s part. It’s simply hooked to a couple of pieces of string, pulled back, and let go! Only when it reaches the other side of the room does it really need to take action. And that’s what this chapter is about; getting the RopeSwinger to find, grab, and pull that lever. Let’s find out how to make that happen.
