A congestion-control algorithm for receiver-directed packet-radio networks

Julio Escobar, Gregory Lauer, Martha Steenstrup · 2002

The authors present a distributed, closed-loop, rate-based congestion control algorithm for regulating traffic flow rates in DARPA's Survivable Adaptive Networking (SURAN) packet-radio network. The algorithm however, could be tailored to arbitrary packet-radio networks. The congestion control algorithm effectively regulates source flows without severely limiting network throughput and admits a simple implementation. The algorithm achieves max-min fairness in a large class of situations and is robust to node failures. They summarize analysis and simulation results describing the performance of the algorithm under a variety of conditions.>
