The advantages obtained from the use of standardized functional elements developed by the C.E.A. to be units in electronic devices are discussed. These units, designed for low-cost quantity production, feature high operational flexibility. A definition of their primary functions is given. The wide variety of combinations possible with these units is illustrated with typical examples showing how they are used in the development of more complex devices. (tr-auth)
