Leonid Sheremetov, Miguel Contreras, Ernesto Germán, Manuel Chi, Matı́as Alvarado · International Conference on Enterprise Information Systems · 2003

Information infrastructure as the mean to bring together software applications within the enterprise is the key component to enable cooperation, information and knowledge exchange in an open distributed environment. In this paper, a survey of component and agent paradigms for the integration of virtual enterprises is presented analysing advantages and drawbacks of the both technologies. As an example of their integration in the enterprise information infrastructure, a Component Agent Platform (CAP) using DCOM as a particular case of component model for its implementation is described. The interoperability issues of the proposed solution based on interacting services are discussed and directions of the future work are outlined.
