Usability study of the pit (portable information terminal) platform
Naotsune Hosono, Katsuaki Suzuki · 2005
The goal of a usability study implies not a single but a multiple directional and functional analysis of users' behavior. This paper evaluates comfortableness and usability for the PIT experimental platform. In the process of PIT development, designers are often required to evaluate tradeoffs about features of the device: Hardware, Firmware and Software. The main Hardware features are volume, weight, cost, etc. The Firmware and Software features indicate the GUI (Graphical User Interface) with its operatability and structure, etc. In this usability study, we will focus on PIT Hardware features using a multiple layer item sort from a heuristic relation, a questionnaire survey in groups of students and business workers, and analysis by PCA (Principal Component Analysis) for pursuing comfortable usability.
