Blind sequence detection algorithm for uplink CDMA RAKE receiver

The mobile radio environment is characterized by time variant multipath propagation and fading. The optimal RAKE receiver is derived in sense of MLSE, and a new sliding window blind sequence detection algorithm (SWBSDA) is proposed for DPSK CDMA uplink communication. The present algorithm implicitly uses the channel estimations without the aid of a training sequence. Simulation results show that this approach offers superior BER performance over the conventional decision-directed RAKE receiver and can perform almost as well as the M-ary orthogonal modulation scheme does with much less computational complexity. The performance of the SWBSDA is also discussed in various conditions.
