Software testing is an important part of the development process. Itis essential for producing software of high quality. However, testing is seen asa cumbersome and costly task and even with testing many software developmentprojects fail. In a joint project with local companies we analyzed thestatus quo of software testing. Semi-structured expert-interviews were conducted. We suggest that understanding how software is tested in companieswill help to improve testing and to cut down costs. In this work we describethe project's background and sketch our research method. We then presentthe detailed results of the qualitative analysis along with nota-ble commentsfrom the participants. Results are generalized and discussed in order to inducegeneral findings.
