Hybrid adaptive channel allocation

Cellular systems are migrating from fixed channel allocation schemes to adaptive channel allocation schemes in order to meet the higher capacity demands of the cellular subscribers, and to provide a higher degree of traffic robustness to the systems. We develop a hybrid adaptive channel allocation (HACA) scheme that will facilitate this migration. The proposed HACA combines the advantages of fixed and adaptive channel allocation schemes. A queueing model was formulated from which the capacity gain was estimated. To demonstrate the capacity gain offered by the HACA we studied four system configurations.
