Network software-a manufacturer's viewpoint
Amy Cairns · 1988
Summary form only given. This paper gives an overview of one manufacturer's proprietary network software (SNA) and compares its development and implementation with that of the Open Systems Interconnection standards. The objectives of SNA and OSI are different; SNA provides network services (hierarchical and peer-to-peer) within an IBM network, while OSI permits interworking between networks from different manufacturers.
