The computability of void architectural modeling

Chris I. Yessios · Cumulative Index of Computer Aided Architectural Design · 1987

Solid modelling has proven inefficient as a computational aid to architectural design. A theory and computational method called Void Modelling has been developed to accommodate a class of objects that are containers for other objects. Examples include space enclosures, which are the primitive elements in architectural compositions. The basic computational techniques of void modelling are presented. They show void modelling to be highly efficient in addressing the syntactic and semantic requirements of architectural design
