Python image processing in a computer literacy course
Tom Bennet · Journal of computing sciences in colleges · 2008
This paper describes the Minimal Image Manipulation Program (MIMP) [1] which allows users to easily write small Python plug-ins to manipulate images at the pixel level. It was created to give our computer literacy students practical experience in programming using a minimum of class time. MIMP handles details so that students can code meaningful image transformations in a single lab. Many can be created without loops. This allows us to give our literacy students a lab experience writing image manipulation code, without spending much time on mechanics.
