In this paper, we propose an efficient multimedia (audio, image, etc.) communication system for reliable transmission of vulnerable compressed images over wireless radio channels. We study the removal of noise and ISI components by using the equalizer system. The proposed equalizers are designed based on the non-linear MMSE (minimum mean square error) algorithm using the Taylor series expansion. In simulation, we consider that equalizer-a is a nonlinear MMSE equalizer including an ISI canceller and equalizer-b is the same equalizer without the ISI canceller. Simulation results show that the performance of equalizer-a is improved under general Gaussian and dependent Gaussian noise environments in the positive SNR value; and proposed equalizer-b, in the dependent Gaussian noise, has a good performance in the negative SNR value as compared to other systems.
